Fish Food Frenzy is the fifteenth level in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and the fifth level of Cotton Top Cove. In the level, a Nibbla follows after Dixie and Kiddy until the end of the area. The Nibbla starts out blue, and it will not attack the Kongs at first. It will automatically eat any enemies that it swims close to throughout the entire level. Over time, Nibbla's color changes from blue, to purple, to pink, and then to red. Nibbla becomes happier and bluer if it eats a Koco, but if it eats a Lurchin, it becomes redder and angrier looking. When Nibbla turns red, it will bite the lead Kong if it does not eat a Koco soon enough. It will also attack the lead Kong immediately if it eats a Lurchin while pink. To safely progress, the Kongs have to direct Nibbla toward any Kocos along their path while avoiding any Lurchins.

The level begins with a straight pathway leading to a few Kocos. The apes should feed the Nibbla these Kocos on the way and enter an open area with the letter K, as well as some Lurchins. The apes will need to continue through the level and head downwards past a few more enemies for the Nibbla to eat. Soon, they will make their way upwards and spot an arrow pointing to the left, made by a formation of bananas. They should follow the arrow and swim through an area full of Lurchins. Keeping the Nibbla from eating them, the Kongs should move along and quickly head downwards to progress, finding the letter O. Continuing through the level will take them through an area with a few Lurchins swimming out of small gaps. They should dodge the enemies and keep the Nibbla away from them. Eventually, the group will travel through a U shaped pathway with the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the heroes will need to head down a narrow pathway, passing a few Lurchins. They will soon find the letter N in a rather large alcove, as well as another pathway heading downwards. Soon after that, the apes will notice a banana trail leading into a narrow passage. With their Nibbla eating the Kocos in the monkeys' way, the heroes should get through and enter a wider area with a lone Lurchin guarding a bear coin, along with a few bananas. If the apes continue from there, they will find themselves in another narrow passage, where they will encounter a few Lurchins swimming out of thin gaps. Once they pass all the enemies safely, Kiddy Kong and Dixie Kong will need to keep swimming through the level's long pathways, passing a few more Lurchins. Eventually, they will find the letter G in another large alcove. Proceeding from there, the pathway in which the Kongs must follow will become thinner and filled with more enemies, including Lurchins shooting out of more small gaps. If the apes manage to get through these areas, they will eventually find the entrance to a cave, where the Nibbla will stop following them. Inside of the cave, the group will find a flagpole. If they raise its flag, the level will end.

The Kongs defeat Koin for its DK Coin, as seen in the Game Boy Advance version

In the cavern area, the Kongs must stand left of the Level Flag. Kiddy must perform team up and throw Dixie up to a platform at the top-left. They must pick up a Steel Barrel and throw at a wall behind a Koin to the left. The Steel Barrel bounces off and hits the Koin from behind, defeating it and rewarding the DK Coin to the Kongs.

Bonus Levels[edit]

The first and second Bonus Levels respectively

There are two Bonus Levels, listed by type:

  • Collect 15 Bananas!: After the letter K, the Kongs find a group of bananas shaping a left arrow. They must go to the right past a Lurchin and enter a Bonus Barrel. In the Bonus Level, the Kongs have 35 seconds to collect 15 green bananas in an empty, single-screen area. After the Kongs collect enough green bananas, a Bonus Coin appears in the center.
  • Bash the Baddies!: After the letter G, the Kongs must go through a thin passage with three Lurchins rapidly moving in and out of small gaps. They must swim into a gap above the third Lurchin to go into a small area with the second Bonus Barrel. The Bonus Level takes place in an open underwater area, where the Kongs have 40 seconds to get Nibbla to eat all the Kocos in the area. After this, a Bonus Coin appears in the center of the Bonus Level.
